Alinari publishing, Florence
Publishing House
Founded in 1885, it began as a publishing firm for art books and was subsequently developed by Vittorio Alinari. The production gradually broadened in range and currently keeps pace with the exhibition activities of the Museum, publishing catalogues of the exhibitions.

Aside from these, Alinari also produces books on commission and in line with a programming of its own: history and culture of photography, monographs and semiological subjects, always based on the image.  Among these are the Poster Books on the principle cities and regions of Italy, the series 'Homage to...', the series dedicated to Tuscany and its territory and numerous monographs on the leading photographers.
The publishing house also brings out the periodical Fotologia; the only one in Italy devoted to the study and research of the history of photography, edited by Italo Zannier. With their elegant and immediately recognizable graphic design, the Alinari books have changed radically in recent years, and not only in their form. They are now books to read as well as look at, where the visual text is supported and justified by the written text, compiled by well known scholars. Thanks to the wealth of its archive, the Alinari Publishing House can satisfy the publishing needs of a broad range of users: from monographs on the territory to those on a specific theme, from books on art to those on the history of photography.

Recently the production of an interesting and updated series of multimedia products has been initiated, from "Syntax of vertigo ", Photo CD edited by Omar Calabrese, to "Giubileo. Una storia per immagini" (The Holy Year. A story in pictures), realized in collaboration with Infogroup of Florence, to "Un secolo allo specchio Italy photographs 1900-2000", and "The Trieste of the Wulz Family”. Fratelli Alinari products are now on the electronic publishing market, once more coupling tradition with the latest developments in communication.

Fratelli Alinari products can be bought on line in the E-COMMERCE section.
The publishing catalogue divided by topic contains over 180 titles, each illustrated by an explanatory entry card, and searchable by key words.
