PHOTOGRAPHIC RESTORATION: TRADITIONAL...
The restoration laboratory pursues a fundamental activity of conservation treatment and restoration of its own photographic fund but also that of third parties, from the great public archives deposited in museums, libraries, institutes and academies to materials belonging to the archives of industries and firms as well as private individuals.
The laboratory is available for consultation and advisory services and various types of conservation treatment.
The Alinari laboratory engages in conservation treatment of the many types of materials that comprise the photographic heritage: from the oldest daguerreotypes to calotypes, to various types of photographic prints, rare negatives on paper and collodion and silver glass-plate negatives, up to the most recent color proofs and negatives.
Conservation and restoration also includes covering the other aspects of the photographic heritage comprised of frames, albums, particularly valuable and fragile containers in leather, wood, mother of pearl, semi-precious stones, bronze.
...AND DIGITAL
The Fratelli Alinari restoration laboratory has also activated a section specialized in digital restoration, working with electronic supports in constructing images that are illegible as a result of damage due to atmospheric or mechanical agents.
These new methodologies make it possible to virtually reconstruct images that would otherwise be irretrievably lost, where the level of deterioration excludes the possibility of a traditional type of restoration. This greatly increases the chances for the recovery of visual documents and the entire wealth of information they carry.
The Fratelli ALINARI photographic restoration laboratory can therefore offer professional services of exceptional quality, with conservation treatments that conform to the most up to date international standards.
